Midas Touch

There is no doubt about it. Even in the heartland, this is a truly colorful time of the year. It seems that everywhere one looks, one can see that Mother Nature really has a Midas Touch.

Unity

Sometimes even the most simple subject can turn into an interesting image with just a bit of help. This plant drew my attention when I noticed that it was so consistent in its colors and textures. Given that foundation, the rest of my work with this went well. Sometimes one needs a bit of unity in an image to really make it work.

Heatland Shadows

I took a less traveled road today and this is what I found…a field of corn patiently waiting for the final harvest. Life is good in the heartland.

Harvest Gate

Just when I thought I had a complete set of images of my front gate, I found another that just had to be shared. This image is titled Harvest Gate.

Return To Sender

This is one of those moments that paid off when I had my head in the clouds. As you might notice, a rather unique cloud drifted overhead recently, making for an interesting image. Truth be told, it was not easy to pull this cloud out of its background. Hopefully you will agree with me that it was worth the effort. On the other hand, if you are not thrilled by this image, you can always return it to sender.

Tranquility

I spend a good deal of time with my head in the clouds, looking for something interesting to photograph. Fortunately, I do have those occasional moments when I remember to look at what is beneath my feet. This image was made during one of those quiet times when I remembered to bring my mind back to the simple pleasures that can be found on the ground. When discovered, I almost always have a feeling of peace and tranquility.

Heartland Highway

If you are looking for a quick run to the grocery store or anywhere else, this simple country road is not for you. However, if you are looking for a scenic drive on a less traveled road, this heartland highway could be exactly what you are looking for. For the curious, this road is a gravel surfaced dust machine running through southwest Iowa. Personally, I love it. Here’s hoping you will enjoy this image of a road that runs right by my home.

Multiple Choice

For those of you who follow my musings, you no doubt have noticed that I have made some fundamental changes in this effort. Hopefully this is an improvement. Honestly, this has been nothing short of my usual tech war. After more than two weeks, I think I am in a position to post a new image. This one is built on that old school assignment of shooting something that is no further than ten feet from you front door. I made this image right outside of my front door. It reminds me of a something that has long been a basic item/tool in my professional career. I call this image “Multiple Choice.”

Together

One thing I learned quickly when shooting a group of hot air balloons is that it is not easy making a unique image. The colors are fabulous. The moments are a real joy to capture. And with a bit of luck, one can come up with something different. Hopefully that is what I managed to do with this image. One balloon or more, they are all are a joy to photograph when they are together. Two hot air balloons floating over southwest Iowa.

Auto Pilot

This is another of my hot-air balloon series that I photographed as they passed over the countryside in southwest Iowa.I call this one Auto Pilot because I cannot see the good folks inside the balloon basket.
